3 tips to help you get the most restful night’s sleep ever
Sleep is important, but many people aren’t getting the quality night sleep that they need to wake up feeling refreshed. To help make sleeping peacefully a more achievable reality, here are three tips that you’re not going to want to miss.
Consider Updating Your Sheets
The bedding you sleep with can have a larger impact than you might think when it comes to getting a quality night’s sleep, and you don’t want to choose just any sheets. For example, if you have sensitive skin, hypoallergenic bed sheets can help reduce discomfort and allow you to sleep through the night without irritation. Hypoallergenic bed sheets are also great for those without sensitive skin, as many have antibacterial properties that can help with odor reduction. That said, regardless of whether or not you’re using hypoallergenic bedsheets or another type, you should still try to put them in the wash every 10 days, as fresh sheets can also increase restfulness. In fact, around three-quarters of people admit that they sleep more comfortably on fresh-smelling sheets.
Create a Routine
Although you may think that regular bedtimes are only for children, they can in fact help adults maintain a healthy sleep schedule. By making sure to go to sleep at the same time every night, you can help your body get into a routine that can help you fall asleep and stay asleep. Keep in mind that this routine should not be neglected on your days off, as this can throw your internal clock out of synch and make you have to restart the process all over again!
Filter Out The Blue Light
Light is great for keeping you awake, and exposing yourself to light in the morning can help get you out of bed more easily. However, when you’re trying to sleep, light isn’t something that you want, and it can actually make it harder to fall asleep. Blue light, the type produced by smartphones and computers, can make falling asleep especially difficult as it can reduce melatonin production and keep you awake longer. Optimally, you should turn off the TV and all bright lights at least two hours before bed, and if you must be on your phone or computer, you should consider wearing blue light blocking glasses or downloading apps on your devices that block blue light.
A good night’s sleep is important for many reasons, least of all is the ability to feel refreshed in the morning. If you haven’t been getting a restful night’s sleep lately, consider these three tips so that you can take back control of your sleep schedule and wake up ready to face the day without feeling like you haven’t slept a wink.
